Topic: Working with Multimedia

This tutorial explores the transfer information through the use of sound and video clips.  The students learn about external and embedded media and how to add sound and video clips to the Web pages. They learn about different sound and video files formats, and how the data is stored in files.  Students learn to work with the <embed> tags to include sound and video clips in the Web page and create hypertext links to external clips.  They learn how to work with Java Applets and scrolling marquees.  They study different types of embedded objects that can exist on the Web page and about attributes associated with the <object> tag.  Finally, they will be able to enhance a Web page with sound, video, and Java applets.

Students learn about the advantages and disadvantages of external and embedded media on the Web.  The session covers the principle of converting a sound from analog form to digital form.  Students learn how to add a sound clip to a Web page by creating a hypertext link to a sound clip or by embedding the sound clip within a Web page.  They also learn how to reduce the size of a sound file to maximize page performance.  Finally, they will be able to add a background sound to the Web page using Internet Explorer.
